Kick off the season with a weekend designed to build confidence on the water and help sailors and skippers connect ahead of the racing calendar. Open to Generation JOG members with prior racing experience, this training weekend focuses on developing your understanding of sail trim and helming techniques.

Combining coached sailing, race practice, and a relaxed social, you’ll gain hands-on experience trimming mainsails, jibs, and spinnakers across a variety of yachts, with experienced coaches on board to support your learning and encourage discussion around all aspects of keelboat racing.

Some berths are available for Saturday night, but spaces are limited, so we encourage early applications to secure your place.

Saturday 14 March – On-the-Water Race Training

The day begins at around 9am with crew arrivals, followed by a briefing before heading afloat. Expect a full day of practical sailing focused on teamwork, boat handling, and race preparation. Boats return at approximately 5:00pm, allowing time to change before the evening social.

Saturday Evening – Crew Finder BBQ

Sunday 15 March – Race Practice

A practice start will take place in the morning, followed by racing. We’ll wrap up the weekend with tea and cake before departing by 4:00pm.

Once you have submitted your application, you will receive an email confirming whether you have secured a place on the course, along with a payment link for the £20 course fee. BBQ tickets (£20 for GenJOG) must be purchased separately via the link below.
